data . images “Opening” è un progetto nato a Milano nel 2008 nel quale il fruitore non solo partecipa del processo di formazione dell’opera, ma diviene esso stesso materiale per la sua costruzione. E’ un lavoro che si sviluppa per stratificazioni successive di immagini, che si sovrappongono parzialmente ad ogni nuovo stadio. In questo modo ogni immagine contiene la precedente e confluisce nella successiva in un processo senza fine. Le immagini vengono eseguite durante l’inaugurazione delle mostre per mezzo di un dispositivo che potremmo definire di autoproduzione; l’esposizione dell’opera determina la produzione dell’opera stessa, che viene creata contestualmente alla sua fruizione con un sistema totalmente automatico. I due momenti vengono così a coincidere. Il soggetto dell’opera è dunque semplicemente il suo essere guardata, l’opera guarda se stessa guardarsi, o è il pubblico che osserva se stesso che osserva, in ogni caso non si può dare l’uno senza l’altra, in un gioco di specchi che si riflettono a vicenda e che innescano un cortocircuito dal quale tutto è estromesso. Non c’è più un senso “altro” da ricercare, l’opera non parla di niente e non si riferisce a niente se non a se stessa. Si riproduce incessantemente come preda del delirio autoreferenziale di un meccanismo fuori controllo.
“Opening” is a project in which the public not only participates in the formation process of the work, but it really becomes the material for its construction. This is a work that is developed for successive stratifications of images, which overlap partially with each new stage of progress. In this way, each image contains the previous and move into the next in a process without end.
The images are made during the opening of the exhibition through a device that could be called “of self-handling”. The exposition of the work leads to the production of work itself, which is created concurrently of its show with a fully automatic system. The two phases, thus, fit together neatly, the work show itself in its making, revealing the process that supports it and is made only by virtue of his show, because without its exposure would cease to exist.
The subject is therefore simply the act of looking, the work sees himself look at himself, or is the public who observes himself that observe, in any case we can not take one without the other, in a narcissistic game of mirrors that reflect each other and that trigger off a short circuit from which everything is excluded. There is no longer a meaning to be found, the work dont says nothing and refers to nothing except itself. It replicate itself relentlessly as prey of a self-referential mechanism of a system out of control.
